Daisyfield Pools Complex, Blackburn
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Client: Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council
Value: £200,000
Timescale: March 2025 to July 2025
Scope: The soft-strip, demolition and site remediation of a former swimming pool complex in Blackburn.
Project Background
The project involved the soft-strip and demolition of a former swimming pool complex in a residential area of Blackburn.
Demolition Methodology
Once on site our site team removed the ACMs and soft-stripped the building of its fixtures and fittings to prepare it for demolition. Having cleaned the building, our demolition excavator fitted with a range of hydraulic attachments mechanically demolished the building. Site won demolition hardcore was crushed to 6F2 standard product on site using our own mobile crusher and used to backfill any voids as well as level the site. Due to the topography of the site, a retaining wall was left along one elevation to ensure the integrity of the adjacent footpath and road. A substantial engineered bund of crushed material was used to provide additional support to this area.
Site Remediation
The site was finished at several levels with crushed material tracked in and a layer of top soil spread over the surface. An anti-climb fence was erected round the site with a set of large gates across the site entrance and a bat box installed on a suitable tree.
