Lever Gardens EPH, Bolton

Location: Little Lever, Bolton
Client: Seddon Construction Ltd
Value: £90,000
Timescale: January 2020 to March 2020
Scope: The soft-strip and demolition of a former Elderly Persons’ Home.

Project Background

The project involved the soft-strip and demolition of a former EPH in Bolton. The building was located in the centre of Little Lever with residential properties and shops surrounding the site on all sides. In addition, a local secondary school was situated just few blocks away.

Demolition Methodology

Prior to commencing work on site, background noise and vibration monitoring was carried out to ascertain benchmark levels. Once on site our site team soft-stripped the building of its fixtures and fittings to prepare it for demolition while our asbestos removal sub-contractors removed all the ACMs from the building. Having cleaned the building, our demolition excavator fitted with a range of hydraulic attachments mechanically demolished the building. Site won demolition hardcore was crushed to 6F2 standard product on site using our own mobile crusher and used to backfill any voids as well as level the site.

Consideration to Neighbours

Due to the close proximity of various residential properties to our demolition work, we monitored noise and vibration regularly throughout the project using our own in-house monitoring equipment to ensure we were not causing any undue inconvenience to our neighbours. Results were shared with the client every week.
